September Giveaway: Pokemon Unova Gym Badges with Display

This is my third giveaway and I realized I haven’t yet given away a set of Pokemon badges. So this here are the Unova Pokemon gym badges that magnetically attach to a display case which I may add to my shop in the future.

Rules:

Reblog this post just once to be entered to win. Likes and follows don’t count but are deeply appreciated. Giveaway ends Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 11:59 PST.

And as asked by my fellow tumblrheads, I will be announcing the winner instead of contacting them by their ask box so you need not turn them on. So on Sunday night/Monday morning, check back to see if you’ve won and email me at blazerdesigns@gmail.com.

Since I am almost at a thousand followers, and if I can break a thousand followers by the end of the giveaway, I will pick a second winner and this second winner can pick any one set of Pokemon gym badges that I have in my shop as their prize.

Good luck tumblrheads!

want want want want waaaaaaaaaaant.

My First DnD Campaign

jephjacques:

The first one I’m DMing, that is.

I’ve been playing 4th edition DnD for about a year now, and am comfortable enough with the mechanics that I wanted to try running a campaign of my own. My friends enthusiastically agreed, so I set up a short (we’re planning on four sessions total) campaign. Last Sunday was the first session and I think everybody had a good time! Here’s the setting and a summary of the first encounter.

You are making me miss tabletop roleplay REALLY BADLY. Even if I was a terrible DM last time I tried (I just don’t have that kind of creativity).

‘oritsunagumono’ (translated as ‘things folded and connected’) is a collection of origami works by artist takayuki hori,
created to highlight the environmental threat of pollution to a number of species native to japan’s coastal waterways

Utterly incredible.

fun fact: if you’re writing in something that accepts HTML code (for tumblr captions, LJ comments, etc), you can do & {letter} uml ; without the spaces. so & U uml ; becomes Ü. It’s case senstive so you can get lowercase too: & u uml ; becomes ü. :3

‘Give me a ball and I could play here for 5 hours. Wow, what a stadium! The day I will play in this stadium is the day you will see me cry for the first time in my life. I will be successful. Dreaming? I’m not dreaming, I’m going to play here someday, I’m sure.’ Dreams really do come true. [x]

Welcome aboard. As a Blue, I’m touched, seriously.

This is a very, very good read on the concept of what mathematical modeling is, what optimization is, and why they’re important. And no, you don’t see the equations, for the ~phobic.

thomas’s troll face is flawless.

While you’re paying attention to that, I’m squeaking about how perfect Philipp is. As usual.

Bundesliga/Pokal/Champion’s League 2011/2012, MY BODY IS SO READY.

My sister actually gave me this clock for Christmas last year. As long as no one has stolen it, it’s still at the shared mathematics graduate student office at Florida Tech, since the office badly needed a clock and I had no place to put it in my house.

In related news, it always bothered me that 9 was only approximately so, while the others are integer-accurate.

I would play the shit out of female!Engineer. I already play Engineer almost exclusively as it is, to be honest.

One of the things I’m digging in gaming is more games allowing you to choose your gender regardless of your skills. See Mass Effect, also Diablo III (even if I’m annoyed about the persistent Internet and no-mod stances). It’s not perfect yet (see hoopla over default FemShep), but it’s something I’d love to see Valve take on, especially if the characters are as awesome as this fanart - which is to say, as awesome as the originals.

Click on the photo for more awesome art, including a whole lot of genderbent TF2!

Saudi Arabia in conjunction with Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture will be constructing Kingdom Tower, which will unseat the Burj Khalifa as the world’s tallest skyscraper. The concept design is extremely striking not just in height but also in its modern and forward-thinking design. Particularly amazing is the concept view of the tower protruding through the clouds.

Expect the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to be completed by 2020 at an estimated $1.5 billion.

Honestly, what is the point to this? I don’t understand this severe obsession with creating the highest things. It’s like glorifying futility. You know somebody is gonna plan to create a higher tower once this one is done.

And I hope humanity will never get tired of looking of ways to outdo itself. :)

Futile as it you may think it, making things like these take innovation and encourage the advancing of our knowledge in science and whatever have you. That, and I think this looks pretty damn cool. :D

We are so damn close to Sim City 2000-style arcologies. SO CLOSE.
